A new court proceeding on lawsuits against Stryker was formed in Florida on October 3, 2013 under Broward County Circuit Court Judge Marina Garcia-Wood. She released an order combining 13 Stryker lawsuits for pre-trial proceedings.

Similar to multidistrict litigation (MDL) and multicounty litigation (MCL), individual lawsuits will remain separate for the reason of establishing compensation values.
For consolidating the cases, Judge Garcia-Wood reasoned out that several lawsuits were already filed against Stryker in Florida, impending lawsuits are expected to be filed, and pre-trial coordination was “appropriate pursuant to standing court rules and administrative orders.”

Plaintiffs still has the choice of joining this Florida proceedings or the existing MDL in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota or the MCL in New Jersey Superior Court in Bergen County.
